This will look like a solid piece of metal with screw holes and is likely to be shaped like a plate or a strip. The mounting bracket needs to be securely mounted to the electrical box in the ceiling with the wires hanging down around the bracket. Make sure that you attach the ground wire to the grounding screw on the mounting bracket. The next step is positioning your new ceiling lights so that you can connect the wires from the fixture to the ones coming out of the ceiling. Once all the wires are connected you need to carefully lift your new fixture up to the ceiling, pushing the wires up with it, and then line up the screw holes with the ones in the mounting bracket. Tightly secure your lights to the ceiling with the correct screws or bolts - this may take two people depending on the size of your fixture. Testing Once youve finished connecting your new ceiling lights, simply turn the electricity back on and flip the switch. If your room lights up then youve done it correctly. If not, then you will have to switch the electricity back off and check your connections. It is a good idea to check and see if other electrical items in the room are working as you may have blown a fuse - this simple test could save you hours of trying to find a problem with the wires.
